How to wash pocket nappies

Put dirty nappies in a nappy bucket or wet bag until you are ready to wash.

To destuff or not to destuff, that is the question… Some people say you need to go to the effort of taking out the inner pad when you put the soiled nappy in the nappy bucket. However, life is too short to be pulling at soiled nappies. It’s best to put the whole nappy in the mesh laundry bag or wet bag, then put the whole lot on a pre-rinse cycle.

You can then choose to detach the absorbent pad from the waterproof outer for the final wash or do it when hanging on the washing line. The cloth nappy will clean better if separated but really it’s not essential you can still be the perfect nappy lady if just separating when drying.

Do not use fabric softener and no need to tumble dry as they dry very quickly. Just flush the solids down the toilet then pop them into the bag.
